Carl Bicknell - Registered Podiatrist

Carl qualified from Plymouth Univesity with distinction in 1995.  After 11 years working with the NHS in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire specialising in Biomechanics, Rheumatology, Diabetes and as a Podiatric Surgical team member, Carl took the opportunity to return to his home county of Cornwall in December 2006.  He has an established practice in Truro and has been a visiting practitioner to the Cornwall Chiropractic Clinic since March 2009.  Carl continues his Surgical interest working one day a week in Glastonbury for a surgical team where he specialises in local and regional anesthesia. Carl is currently studying for a Masters degree in the theory of podiatric surgery at Glasgow Caledonian and Queen Margarets University Edinburgh.

As well as offering general chiropody treatments for nails, corns, callous and verrucas he is able to offer more specialist treatment for biomechanical problems which may be the source of pathologies such as metatarsalgia (forefoot pain), plantar fasciitis (heel pain), shin splints / overuse syndromes, patellofemoral dysfunction (knee pain), hip and back pain.  Treatment may include biomechanical evaluation, gait analysis, and provision of orthoses or insoles as well as advice on stretching and proprioceptive exercises and possible referral on for further treatment from an additional disipline.

Carl has alot of experience working with people with diabetes and rheumatological conditions and is able to offer, treatment, advice, education and screening. He has a multidisiplinary approach to treatment and liases closely with colleagues at the C.C.C.

Carl is looking forward to meeting and treating the people of Hayle and its surrounding areas along with the rest of the team at the Cornwall Chiropractic Clinic.
