Research
On the subject of posture Schweitzer and White carried out research into posture and premature arthritis. They found that the results demonstrated not only the detrimental effects of altered biomechanics on bones and joints, but also the rapid benefits of the removal of functional misalignment. Chiropractors have been arguing this fact as a basis to support their work for years.
Recent research by Exeter and Brunel universities has shown that to stay healthy, adults should do at least 20 minutes of vigorous exercise three times a week. They go on to highlight the best forms of exercise are running, swimming, cycling and rowing. Walking does not get a mention.
Your attention is also drawn to a series of studies carried out in the USA on walking. The conclusions showed walking to "significantly lower the risks of heart attack, diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis and breast and colon cancer, while reducing weight, cholesterol levels, constipation, depression and impotence and also increase muscle mass, flatten the belly and reshape the thighs"
So don't give up on walking.
